    ANZ Food, Beverage and Agribusiness Seminar

    Co-hosted by ANZ Japan and ANZCCJ, this seminar will feature updated trends of growth industries related to Agriculture business, and insights from ANZ Agri experts, Agri economist and also Head of Corporate Advisory, from Australia, NZ and Asia.

    This seminar will mainly cover four themes to discuss the various aspects of Food, Beverage & Agri business. At the first session, Michael Whitehead, Head of Agri Insight Team, ANZ, will share insights of the latest Australia’s Food, Beverage & Agri sector, as a world leading industry in terms of infrastructure, quality, food safety and innovation. At the next session, Con Williams, Agri Economist in NZ, ANZ, will talk about the updates of New Zealand’s Food, Beverage & Agri landscape, by sharing the impacts of the recent change of government. At the third session, Patrick Vizzone, Head of Food Beverage & Agribusiness, International, ANZ, will provide attendees with some keys to success in developing trade flows into Japan and the third markets in Asia, by collaborating with Australia and NZ. At the last session, Martin Hanrahan, Head of Corporate Advisory, ANZ, will look at the impact from recent major deal activity in the space.

    About the speakers:

    Michael Whitehead: Head of Agribusiness Insights, ANZ. In his current role, Michael focuses on mapping industry based trends and analysing the impact of these sectoral changes and dynamics on stakeholders across the agribusiness sector. Previously, Michael was the Product Specialist for Macquarie Agricultural Funds Management in New York, as well as Executive Director of Rabobank's Food & Agribusiness and Advisory team in North America, providing industry research and corporate strategy. Michael has been featured widely in the global media outlets, including CNBC, the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal. He has a background in agricultural production and consulting, particularly in Australia and China. Michael has a BA from La Trobe University, and MBA from the Melbourne Business School and the Rotterdam School of Management, and has also completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Agribusiness Course.

    Con Williams: Agri economist, New Zealand, ANZ. Con provides detailed analysis and commentary on all aspects of New Zealand’s major primary sectors and soft commodity markets. This includes providing research and analysis on the major primary sectors, which is used to shape the Bank’s lending decisions. The production of the Agri Focus, a quarterly publication which includes research on topical issues, soft commodity markets, production trends, rural property and financial markets. Prior to this, he previously worked as a senior economist for Meat & Wool New Zealand’s Economic Service and on environmental policy specifically climate change. He also lectured at Massey University for a short stint where he gained a Bachelor of Applied Science (First Class Hons).

    Partick Vizzone: Patrick Vizzone is ANZ International’s Head of Food, Beverage & Agribusiness. Patrick was born in Australia and has resided in Greater China and Japan since 1994. Throughout his career, Patrick has held numerous senior corporate and investment banking leadership positions including most recently as Head of Institutional Banking, Asia and Head of Food & Agribusiness, Asia at National Australia Bank. Patrick has also served as Managing Director and Head of Food & Agribusiness, Asia at Rabobank. He is a long-standing member of the Board of Directors of China Agri-Industries, the flagship listed subsidiary of the COFCO Group, China’s largest food and agribusiness enterprise. Patrick has a BA in History and Political Science from Monash University and an MBA in finance from Manchester Business School.

    Martin Hanrahan: Martin is Head of ANZ’s Corporate Advisory business based in Sydney.  He is a mergers and acquisitions specialist with an extensive track record of major public and private company transactions, equity capital raisings and restructurings both in Australia and key international markets. Prior to joining ANZ, Martin was the Managing Director of Bancorp Australia Limited, a specialist mergers and acquisitions boutique (1989 -1998).  Previously he worked at Morgan Grenfell Australia Limited as an Associate Director in Corporate Finance, specialising in mergers and acquisitions (1986-1988).

    To celebrate Ms Raelene Castle’s first visit to Japan as CEO of Rugby Australia, ANZCCJ invites members and non-members to attend a Q&A session with Ms Castle and two of Australia's top athletes, Olympic Gold Medalist and Current Women's 7s Captain, Shannon Parry and Retired Men's 7s Captain, Ed Jenkins, followed by some networking. 

    The evening will run from 6:00PM-8:00PM, and includes light refreshments (tapas with wine, beer, spirits and softdrinks).

    Raelene Castle created history when she was named Rugby Australia's new chief executive and the first woman to lead a major Australian football code. Ms Castle is a strong advocate for women in sports, and workplace equality and diversity.

    Japan Australia New Zealand Society (JANZ) has been holding Golf Day every year for the Australian Ambassadors Cup in Spring and New Zealand Ambassador’s Trophy in Autumn.

    JANZ Golf Day for the 16th Australian Ambassador’s cup Competition will be held at Dai Atsugi Country Club, Sakura Course on May 29 (Tue),2018. At this course in 2011, New Zealand Ambassador,

    H.E. Mr. Ian Kennedy won the Australian Ambassador’s Cup Competition and received the Cup from the Australian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Murray McLean for a memorable moment.

    This year’s competition will be held for commemorating the 90th anniversary of JANZ.
